The first song Joshua learned months ago was, "I Love To See The Temple" with a two-year old twist. "Be-Be-Bah" is temple in his language.
So when our opportunity came to have a special tour of the Oquirrh Mountain Temple, I wanted all of us to go together.
What a special occasion it was. Joshua clung tightly to his Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House pamphlet in one hand and held Megan's hand with his other as he reverently toured the temple.
It is a memory we hope for our children to always remember. The older three children signed their name on their pamphlets, and we traced Joshua and Drew's hands on theirs. We dated them and promised as a family to one day return all seven of us together to the temple when Drew is 19 years old.
"We love to see the temple, we went inside today."
P.S. I hope to never forget Luke's (temporary) souvenir from the temple. Ranch dressing! After the tour, we had refreshments, Luke liked the ranch dressing that was served with the salad so much, he brought some home because "this will taste really good with carrots." The sister in charge thought it was so cute, she sent us home with more.
What a great promise! Your kids look so cute and reverent. When we went to the Draper Temple open house, all Charlie could talk about after was wanting to "go swimming on the cows". Needless to say, that weeks FHE lesson was on baptism.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great experience! I love the goal you made to all be together in the temple when Drew is 19. I remember how happy I was on the day that I was in the Celestial room with my 3 boys. One day we'll be there with our boys and Caitlin too. The picture of your family is beautiful too. I love your family! I'm glad you signed the programs and traced the hands too....that will bring back special memories.

Your post made me cry. We went to the Draper temple open house as a family....it is such an amazing experience, and standing there I had a prayer in my heart to all return as a family some day. Ella did the same with the pamphlet, pointing out each room as we got to them. Jensen was so excited to see the Celestial Room that he almost didn't want to look, hiding behind my back until just the right moment. Such great family memories...

How very special. I remember the first time the three of us were all together in the temple. Keith was in young mens and we were doing baptisms for the dead. Then I blinked and he was getting married in the temple.

ReplyDeleteWe did the Draper open house and I would love to do this one, too. You have such good ideas on remembering the occasion (signing the pamphlets). I'm going to do the same. We can scrap it together (if we ever get back to scrapping)!
