SERIOUSLY, I need some advice
But first, I'll give you answers to questions that may arise with your comments.
I only use each one for one day.
I've tried laundering them alone.
I've tried using some bleach.
They are a decent quality.
I have owned them for 6 months.
I CAN'T get the smell out of them.
I CAN'T get the smell out of them.
I CAN'T get the smell out of them.
Do dishrags really only last 6 months?

I know it seems wasteful but I just throw them away if they are too gross. I have found that with a lot of things, even after oxi clean.
I agree with Heather. As soon as they stink, I toss them. Can't stand it. But I also buy cheap ones, so I don't feel too bad. I buy the wash cloths in a pack of 20for $5.00.
You are not alone, my mother's dish towels always stink! I don't know why but dish towels just STINK. I refuse to own dish towels for this reason.
I would put them while damp in the microwave for 1-2 minutes because it kills the odor causing bacteria. I put my sponges in the microwave for 2 min. at the end of each day. You can also try washing them with baking soda or vinegar both help to eliminate odor.
It's so true and so dang frustrating!! I think we are all in the same boat...do you have a sanitize setting on your washer?? That has helped mine to last a little longer. What a nightmare, just one more thing to worry about on our oh so long lists of things to do...good luck!
P.S. Who would think to post about dishrags?? It made me laugh, thanks for the giggle!!
Vinager....I know that sounds silly but it holds it off and makes them last just a little longer! Good luck!
I have had my dishrags for AGES. I admit I wash them once they stink and its seems to cure it. But I remember growing up I would see a pot boiling on the stove and come to see what was inside and it was a dishrag. My mom would boil them on the stove....strange I know, but growing up I saw it all the time....so it must have worked. I remember asking her what on earth she was doing and she told me that was the way to disinfect them...(unstink them too)
Good luck ;)
I don't really have any suggestions . . . mine seem to be okay after I wash them. But my sense of smell is not the greatest, so maybe mine STINK and I don't even notice?!!??
I haven't noticed my dish rags stinking...but my dishtowels drive me nuts. And I buy nice, cute ones! One of the concerns that I have been able to alleviate, is when I throw one in the dirty laundry, I don't want it to stink up the closet so....I use this AWESOME stuff (It's on my favorites post) it is all purpose cleaner spray from THYMES, I spray one shot on my towels and then throw them in the basket and no more stinky closet. Also...when I leave on my vacay this week I will spray it on a dish rag and it will still smell good when I get home (I've tried it before). It's pricey but lasts a long time. It's great for spraying on the counters at the end of the day and wiping them down. You can still smell it the next day. Recently I splurged on some of their dish soap. It makes the whole kitchen smell good. You can get any of it at Noble House.
PS does anybody have thoughts on bath towels? That's what drives me nuts!!!
Maybe I can't smell that mine stink. Or maybe my Scentsy is covering their stench. I think that they are fine after I was them. But when they do stink I don't hesitate I just chuck them. Sorry I don't have anything great to add.
I really want to make mine into a book too!! I have heard about it, but don't know how...could you forward me any websites or info that could help me?? That would be a dream!
Jenn if you are talking about a blog book then use BLURB.com It is so easy and I love mine!
That would be fun to get together...lets plan it. One question, I went to blurb.com yesterday and the download was like 11 hours long?? Did it take you that long? Then I got disconnected part way through, duh! Let me know.
