Little Donkey

I was thrilled a few years ago with the convenience of itunes, that I could add one of my old favorite Christmas songs to my collection. "Little Donkey" was a song I remember singing at school a lot. I laughed out loud the other day when I heard Joshua singing it while he was playing.

Most of my children ask for it to be skipped when it starts playing--I'm not sure if it is because they really don't like the song, or they don't like that it is a requirement that we all sing along with English accents.

I glanced on You Tube for a copy of it. I only listened partially to about 3-4 different versions, but clearly the ones sung with an American accent were axed pretty quickly. The best way to portray the song to you is with this version of a little English school class singing it--true to form how I think it should be sung.

Ahhh-just imagine me there on the front row with a green and grey tie, white shirt and grey skirt, thirty years younger.

And if you don't absolutely fall in love with this song and feel it a must-have for your Christmas playlist-we may no longer be able to be friends!

I'm kidding.
enjoy~

Absolutely a must have song for the Christmas song list! I can see you in my mind in your school uniform singing this at a school program.

First of all I couldn't understand any of the words other than "little donkey", "star" and Bethleehem" And secondly I was just telling my husband that you are from England and he didn't believe me because "she doesn't have an accent"

Okay, so I just had to watch it for the second time. I think it's great. I would love to hear your family singing this....maybe you need to make a video!
(I swear I heard the children singing Bef- lee- hem. Is that possible?)

Do you know what I haven't heard that song for years and I live here. Thanks for the reminder of a lovely Christmas song.

I have to say I didn't understand all the words but I still liked it. Very catchy tune. And yes I could picture cute Tiffany singing her little heart out on the front row.

Little donkey isn't making the cut, Tiffany! It must be a British thing, and since I do like Brits (turned American cowgirl) like yourself, I'll forgive you. :D

Why oh why have I never even heard of this song? Is it because we are both so busy in December that we don't spend enough time together? Very darling and I can imagine you in your uniform singing loud and clear.
